What 'De Sjamaan' stands for
'De Sjamaan' is Dutch for 'the Shaman'. We believe that the shamanic traditions worldwide have a lot to offer to those seeking herbal ingredients to expand their outlook on the world, or just to enjoy their effects on body and mind.
Most of the products that we offer, find their roots in these shamanic traditions or in herbal medicine from around the world. Hence the name 'de Sjamaan'.
De Sjamaan was founded in 1994. It all began as 1 Smartshop in Arnhem, a town in the east of Holland, near the German border. Since then we have been growing extensively. Now, De Sjamaan is one of the leading companies in the smart industry and head shop branch in Europe. De Sjamaan holds 3 companies. De Sjamaan Smartshops is our retail. De Sjamaan Internet Sales brings you many websites and web shops and De Sjamaan Wholesale supplies hundreds of retailers and wholesalers in Europe. We produce and find new psychoactive products, which we offer worldwide.
The department of De Sjamaan Smartshops has come to be when we opened a 2nd Smartshop at Bovenbeekstraat 3, in the center of Arnhem. There we have built a satisfied clientele since 1998. Since that time De Sjamaan Smartshops has been operating as a seperate department. From 2000, we have started to use the building of our 1st Smartshop at the Klarendalseweg for wholesale activities only, and have closed it as a smartshop. This was mainly caused by the success of our Smartshop in the center of Arnhem.
In 2000, after an extensive renovation, another Smartshop has been opened at Bloemerstraat 48 in the center of Nijmegen.

- Our Smartshops have an open and accessible feel to them, have a low threshold and have been decorated well.
- A vast and carefully chosen assortment of ethnobotanicals, smartproducts, fat burners, magic mushrooms, paraphernalia and sports supplements
- The staff is very educated on psychoactives
Distinctive for De Sjamaan Smartshops is the open character of our smartshops and the light and fresh interior, consisting of beautiful smooth shapes, in which many vitrines are integrated.
Before our staff is allowed to work in our smartshops, they have to go through an internal course which educates on the wide assortment of smart products, party pills, magic mushrooms, paraphernalia, sport supplements and much more... This course is completed with an exam.
The vast knowledge of our staff has resulted in the large number of regular customers and the high reputation which De Sjamaan Smartshops has built since 1994.
We do not sell psychoactive products to minors or persons with psychiatric problems. Because of this, we reserve the right to refuse sales.
De Sjamaan is in good contact with the Dutch authorities like De Grift(drug prevention and addiction institute) and VWA (Food and Drug Administration)
